Things You Didn’t Know About Her Vagina

0

When it comes to vaginas, typically, knowledge is power. Meaning, anything you can do to educate yourself on how they work, what makes them feel good, and the best practices for getting your partner off is obviously going to set you way ahead of the game. In fact, ask any new partner how she likes to be touched down there, and she’ll no doubt be eager to show you everything she likes done to her nether regions. But, are there any facts about her vagina that are better left unmentioned?

No matter how much porn you’ve watched, how many lady bits you’ve stared down into, or even how closely you paid attention in sex ed, there are a few things you likely missed out on involving the vagina — that you’d never know about unless a woman straight up told you. So in order to get to the bottom of this, we asked a few women to share what they’d rather not let their guy in on regarding their vagina. Read on for an eye-opening look at some facts most women probably won’t tell you about their vaginas.

1. How Much Money She Spends Grooming It

“Finding a Brazilian waxer who you trust to get all up in your V is hard enough,” says Amber, 25. “When you do find a waxer who puts you at ease and makes the whole process as quick and painless as possible, are you really going to try and haggle with that woman? My go-to waxer is $50 bucks a pop, and I get waxed every 4-6 weeks (it grows faster in the summer — I bet guys don’t know that either!). But I’d never let a guy I was dating in on just how much I pay to keep things smooth down there.”

2. That Sometimes It Smells For No Reason

“I’m extremely clean, and I make a point to rinse my down there every time I shower,” says Magan, 29. “But even so, there are certain times of the month (usually right after I finish my period) where it just smells like vagina, and there’s nothing you can do about it. Well, there are things that you can do about it. But I prefer to keep things natural. I have never spoken to a guy I’ve been intimate with about the smell, and I’ve also never had any of them complain. But bringing up the fact that your vagina smell fluctuates depending on where you are in your cycle is not something I’d put up for conversation.”

3. She Doesn’t Really Know What It Looks Like

“My husband doesn’t even know this, but I really have never seen my vagina up close,” says Michele, 31. “Thankfully he’s always known his way around (one of the many reasons why I married him). But I think a lot of women wouldn’t bring up that they don’t really know what it looks like. I’ve had my husband say things like ‘Oh it’s so beautiful’ or that it looks like a cave when he’s going down on me and I think these comments are endearing. But I also take his word for it.”

4. How Hairy It Really Is

“If I don’t keep the maintenance up on my vajayjay, it looks like a porcupine,” says Tiffanie, 26. “I’ve seriously considered getting the thing lasered with a more permanent hair removal treatment, because anytime I shave or even wax my bush comes back with a vengeance.”

5. The Way She Feels About Her Landing Strip

“I’ve had my landing strip get messed up a few times before by waxers who I was just trying out,” says Sam, 23, “and I get really emotional when it doesn’t look a certain way. I know that sounds superficial, but I just really hate being completely hairless — but not as much as I hate it when my landing strip is crooked, so I’ve had to get rid of it and start from scratch in that circumstance. I feel sexier when I have a little more hair down there. I would probably not tell a guy that sometimes I cry when my landing strip isn’t right though.”

6. How Often She Does Kegels

“I’m doing them right now as I’m responding to your query,” writes Melissa, 32. “I’m a fitness instructor and a firm advocate for women doing kegels to improve exercises like planks. But I think it would probably be off-putting for someone who I am intimate with to know that while we’re doing things together like having dinner or watching a film that I’m also doing an exercise for my pelvic floor — even if my motivations for doing so aren’t purely sexual.”
